AMTK

On July 27 2004 I get an email from xihyroeioxoz@yahoo.com, recommending to buy shares of Austin Medical Technologies (AMTK) with a 10 days target of $0.21-0.25 from a current price of $0.1. As usual, the reason for buying is a press release. However, the "big news" is simply that a certain Denise Espinosa, Director of Surgery and Refractive Centers/Anesthesia for Berkeley Eye Center in Houston, has joined the Board of Advisors. Well, so what? That this event did not mean anything whatsoever is illustrated by the 90% loss of value of this Company since that email was received:

Of course, the target price was never reached. Here is the ominous chart of the total available price history:

No financial reports or SEC filings are available for this company at the pink sheets web site. There is just a more recent press release stating that "Austin Medical Technologies delivers DIRECT from the manufacturer to the Surgeon, the only technology based, 'Single Source Supply Solution' for custom sterile surgery trays made up of 80% of all disposable surgical devices utilized in surgery. Currently the company has contracted with 200 eye surgery centers including the 2 largest eye surgery centers in the USA" and that "sales grew by a double digit growth of 22% in the 1st quarter of 2005 over the prior 1st quarter of 2004 representing $370,000 in new business".

this is a good post.

it is possible that there may be people using email to publicize penny stocks in an effort to get a quick short term price increase and chance to sell the penny stock at a profit (trading penny stocks).

It is possible that some of these emails originate from individual traders but more often they are organized marketing campaigns. They could be launched on behalf of a shareholder, a broker or the Company.

so what do you think of the "yield curve" trends in the U.S.?

also, there were some stocks that were around or were penny stocks that are not any more.

check out United Online (UNTD), including 5 year per share price trends --> the business model is really inexpensive internet access (vs. dsl or cable modem)

I like the yield curve animation that one finds at http://www.yieldcurve.com/marketyieldcurve.asp

It shows both the US and the UK yield curve in the same picture, which is nice if one is interested in global trades.

Concerning UNTD, it is true that there are penny stocks that can grow out of that situation. However, it is just too easy to find them after the fact. Most of them will not.
