DGLV

On July 16 2004, I receive from erbxnknvykogv@yahoo.com a flashy looking email promoting DigiLava Inc. (DGLV), an internet marketing company specialized in video marketing over email or the internet. The reason to buy the stock was the announcement that they were moving to a new headquarter in San Francisco and their facilities to a new data center. I like the title of this email: "We believe with this exciting news on DGLV and additional big PR and fax campaign we just started, this will cause DGLV move up and up."

This is what really happened to DGLV afterward:

This is the entire price history for this stock:

Besides the company web site not much can be found online. They have no filings or other financial records available. The Pink Sheets web site reports that the Company was called Barter of America Plus Corp. until July 2002. On the other hand the San Jose Business Journal says that Digilava was acquired by Digital Media Works in December 2002.

That email was not the only one. I received a very similar email on 26 Jul 2004 by "Robby Rossi" OJYEWOWLHQRLVW@msn.com.
